Welcome back Minnows to term five! This term's learning theme is Into the Woods. The children will be retelling the story of Little Red Riding Hood, learning about how to take care of the environment and exploring traditional tales of kings and queens as well as celebrating the Queen's jubilee.
The class newsletter will be out before the end of the week. Please take a look in the classroom window as you will see that we have added a display on the focus phonemes and words we will be covering in class each week, we hope that you will be able to practise these at home.

Welcome back Minnows we hope that you had an enjoyable half-term break and that you weren’t swept away in the stormy winds!
We will start the term by finishing off the work we started last term. Having designed their toys this week the children will build their prototypes. We will conclude our work on inventors and inventions by learning about Leonardo Da Vinci.

Week commencing 7th February
Wow this term has flown by and the final week of term three marks the half way point for the year!
Last week you all received the login details for the new reading ebooks. It is vital that the children practise their reading skills with you at home daily. This will give them the opportunity to develop fluency through further practise and rehearsal of the skills that they would have been taught by us in school in their reading sessions. In addition to this reading skill practise we will be continuing our reading passports as part of the whole schools program for reading for pleasure and we will be introducing regular library visits so that the children can borrow a book of their choosing.

We have been really impressed with the children’s work with the new phonics scheme Little Wandle, already we see all the children gaining greater confidence particularly with their reading.
A reminder for your help – this week we would like the children to bring in a special book for them, this will support our learning in Religious Education about special texts the Bible, the Torah and the Qur’an.

This week we will be learning about Christmas. The children have started a woodwork project and we are very grateful to our sponsors Alsfords Timber for providing the resources we needed.
We are going to be working on a special piece of work that will be exhibited in the window of Nationwide Bank as part of the Rye Window Wanderland.
We are also going to be busy rehearsing for our performance of Shine Star Shine, making Christmas cards for the residence of Badgers Gate and making Forest School themed Xmas Decs to sell in the Christmas Fair.

Welcome back to school Minnows. We hope that you had a wonderful half term break. Term Two in school is always really busy and very exciting.
This term Minnows class will be exploring cultural diversity and celebrating difference. Our core text this term will be Elmer by David McKee.
To help Minnows to understand their link with the wider world we are going to be creating a display and we need your help. The children have made a fantastic start to school and we are really impressed with how well they have been coming into school happily and independently.
This week we will be starting Forest School (Monday morning) and we will have our first PE lesson (Wednesday). As the children continue to settle into school, the classroom and making friends this week we will also be commencing the Reception Baseline Assessment (RBA). Last week the children received their Reading Egg and MathSeeds login details and their first homework tasks have been assigned.
