We are supporting this amazing ‘Christmas in Rye’ event.

The Rye Christmas Festival 2016

Saturday 10th December

Visit the website for more information - click here

Tales of Old has been chosen as it offers a broad possibility for public involvement, for such things as procession costumes and decorations, performances, fancy dress, creative competitions and much more.

The school will enter a tree in The Christmas Tree competition which will take place at Rye’s Baptist Church, Cinque Ports Street, Rye, TN31 7AN on Saturday 10 December 2016.

We also will have some art work displayed in the Library Window. The theme is ‘The Ugly Duckling‘. Please be sure to go and look on the event day and after .Each shop will have a different ‘Tales of Old theme displayed.

Make a Lantern

You could make a lantern to hold in the procession. We will make a few lanterns at school (and need some plastic bottles!) but if you want to ensure you have one, make one at home. Click here for an idea (you tube video).

Or visit St Mary's centre on the 10th December between 1-4pm to make your own lantern to use in the procession.

We want to encourage as many children to enter the competitions .

There is a writing and art competition and a photography competition - click here for more information.

We can pass on entries made at home with an entry form. We must have the writing and art entries by Friday 2nd December  a.m. and the photography entry by the Thursday 8th December.

Old tale writing and art competition

You can enter a poem or even a tale of your own. What about rewriting one tale, changing the ending? You can enter a drawing or a sculpture too. The stories and artistic creations might be inspired by this year theme of the ‘Tales of Old’.
For more information, please visit the embrace the theme page by clicking here.

The winning entries will be displayed on the day of the event for all to see at St Mary’s Centre, Lion Street, Rye.
