On Thursday 4th May, Year 5 experienced a wonderful day at Wakehurst Place. The venue houses the Kew Millenium Seed Bank which is a huge Science laboratory aiming to develop a collection of seeds from every plant on the planet.

Jellyfish and Marlin spent the day examining plants under extremely powerful microscopes and marveling at such close-up views. They explored some of the grounds in search of seeds from a variety of species, in order to determine how they were dispersed for future growth. The children had an enlightening time observing 'real' scientists at work who were sorting seeds from abroad and dissecting them. They even had the chance to handle the largest seed in the world from the coco de mer plant.

Everybody really enjoyed the day and were buzzing with their new knowledge all the way back to school.
