This morning we welcomed Jonathan Breeds, Mayor of Rye, to our assembly to launch our Aspirations Week.

Jonathan explained to the children what it meant to be Mayor and what the job entails. He also showed the children some photos of different aspects of his role including the centuries old tradition of Mayor Making when hot pennies are thrown out of the Town Hall window when a new Mayor takes office.

He then read a story to the children called "The Lazy Townspeople" the moral of the story being you don't always get rewarded straight away, but if you work hard you will be rewarded in the end!

A very good 'thought for the day' at the start of our Aspirations Week!
